Die erste Ausgabe erschien im Jahre 1792 in Bury St. Edmunds. "Young's accounts of his travels are deservedly among the most famous that the century produced. He made three trips to the Continent, the first to the Pyrenees in 1787, the second to France in 1788, and the third, which includes Italy, in 1789. He is unexcelled in relating personal adventures, in observations of the agricultural situation, and in descriptions of the many friends he met. He was near enough to the outbreak of the French Revolution to perceive that something unusual was astir, and even experienced some personal contacts with the disordered state of affairs" (Cox). – Mit Exlibris auf dem Vorsatz "Charles Philip Iohn. Wohl aus "Das malerische, monumentale, historische und artistische Venedig" von Francesco Zanotto (1794-1863) mit den hübschen Darstellungen von Marco Moro (1817-1855). Besonders auffällig ist das feine und präzise Kolorit, das teils mit Gouche und mit Golderhöhung akzentuiert wurde. Vorhanden sind: "Kirche S. Zaccaria", "Forta della carta", "Kirche der Madonna dell' orto", "Saal der Assunta", "Das Innere der Marcuskirche", "Frarikirche Inneres", "Ritter der goldenen Stola", "Frau aus dem Bürgerstand", "Marcuskirche", "Marcusplatz", "Hôtel d'Europa", "Palast Vendramin jetzt Herzogin von Berry", "Insel Guidecca", "Lagunenbrücke", "Der Fasching-Donnerstag", "Hof im Dogenpalast", "Palast Grassi jetzt Bn.
